There is no doubt that having an internet presence in one form or another is the most economic and effective way to connect to literally millions of people.

The internet is growing exponentially!

The internet is and counting. To get some idea of how quickly the internet is growing, in 1986 there were around 1000 web pages. The first Google index in 1998 already had 26 million pages and by the year 2000 the Google index reached the one billion mark.

In June 2008, even the search engineers at Google were in awe at just how big the web has grown, as the systems that process links on the web to find new content hit a milestone: 1 trillion unique URLs on the web at once!

People are using the internet more every day.

As access to the internet grows with cheaper technology and faster connections, so does it's everyday use by more and more people.

In November 2009 Google.com alone received over 2.6 billion visits performing some 7.23 billion searches, that's about 242 million a day, or around 10 million searches an hour or nearly 2,800 searches per second.

This all sounds great, so where's the draw back?

Going online to find what you want is becoming the norm for more and more people. But as the number of online visitors continues to grow every year and your potential customers become easier to access, so your competition also increases.

Having a great brand, a stunning website and a killer sales message just isn't enough.  Even when people know your name and search directly for what you offer, you are likely to be met by an expanding wall of competition.

It's a bit like standing on top of a mountain and shouting your message to the world, except now all your competitors and a whole load of other commentators are standing right next to you and shouting just as loud.

How can Peter Woolf help?

First, a little science - when people enter words into a search engine such as Google, Bing or Yahoo! the resulting links are filtered using a set of algorithms.

The algorithms are combinations of rules and guidelines that search engines use to determine your web pages relevance to a person’s search.  The more relevant your web page is ranked, the higher the position you will achieve in the search engine results.

Combine the amount of existing web sites - over 1 trillion - with the hundreds of changing algorithms used to determine your pages relevance and growing competition. It becomes clear that getting your link on the first results page of a search engine such as Google is much more complex than first appears.

To bring attention to your website online you need to combine the skills of advertising with the art of selling. You’ll need to make sure you are doing absolutely everything possible to convert your visitors into customers at every step of your sales process - Peter Woolf does just that!
